Hello!

My name is Cindy Webster. I am a local artist and architect from Waynesville, NC. My work is a combination of watercolor, using hue and pigment to express form, and fine-line pen work, drawing from the precision and articulation required in my career as an architect. I have received my architectural degrees from UNC Charlotte. The subjects of my work vary from the natural landscapes of western North Carolina to the rugged coasts of Scotland, as well as portraiture, and more abstract explorations. I am a first generation Asian American and grew up most of my life in the foothills of North Carolina.

My goal with my art is tell the story of a scene as well as the genius loci (the spirit of a place). It’s about feeling what I see and painting what I feel. As you view my artwork, the abstraction of the scenery allows for texture and colors that one would not inherently notice. By further articulating the shapes, shadows, and colors, I hope to convey the message of what the creator wants to tell us about His creation as well as the spirit of the place if we took the time to learn and discover it.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you leave feeling inspired.
